Resident Medical Officer (RMO) - Rehabilitation Unit
Leopardstown, Dublin
Salary: €70,000 per annum
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Resident Medical Officer (RMO) to join a community-based rehabilitation unit in Leopardstown . This service supports patients transitioning from acute hospitals, primarily those requiring Level 2 and Level 3 rehabilitation , with a strong focus on care of older persons.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality medical care in a 25–50 bed rehabilitation unit
- Perform comprehensive admission assessments and ongoing patient reviews
- Conduct daily ward rounds and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team
- Manage and optimise medication plans (including prescribing and deprescribing)
- Monitor patient progress and respond to clinical changes
- Liaise with GPs, geriatric specialists, nursing staff, and allied health professionals
- Support discharge planning and safe transition to community care
- Maintain accurate and detailed clinical documentation
Working Environment
- Modern rehabilitation facility based in Leopardstown
- Collaborative multidisciplinary team including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech & language therapy, and dietetics
- Regular input from a Consultant Geriatrician
- Patient-focused, integrated care approach
Requirements
- Registered with the Irish Medical Council
- Available to start ASAP
Working Hours
- Full-time position
- Rostered shifts covering a 24/7 service
- 39 hour week
- Includes nights and weekends
