Freelance Legal Specialist- Spain
We are currently looking for experienced Legal Translation SMEs for a short-term freelance project (approximately 4 months) involving translation review and validation.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on an AI-focused language project where your expertise will directly contribute to improving and fine-tuning an existing AI model.
Role Overview
The selected SME will be responsible for:
- Reviewing and validating AI-generated legal translations
- Correcting translation inaccuracies and linguistic errors
- Ensuring legal terminology and contextual accuracy
- Providing high-quality linguistic feedback to support AI model refinement
- Participating in an initial Time & Motion study for effort estimation and project planning
Required Skills & Qualifications

This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact, cross-border transactions in the healthcare and life sciences sector, including data-driven and technology-enabled businesses. As a key part of the IQVIA M&A legal team, you will be providing legal support on a range of international corporate transactions. **Qualifications and experience**

**Your Impact**
As a legal advisor for Sales in France, you will provide support on day-to-day operations and commercial engagements while partnering with management to interpret contractual provisions, offer risk assessments, and deliver solutions that support business objectives. You will draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial agreements to ensure all terms align with corporate strategy and protect the interests of the organization. By integrating AI tools into your workflow, you will conduct legal research, streamline document reviews, and perform contract analysis with precision and speed. ROLE PURPOSE
We are looking for a Litigation Lawyer with 5+ years of experience in high-volume litigation to lead the company's litigation strategy and provide strategic support during the pre-litigation phase within the fintech sector. The successful candidate will combine outstanding technical expertise with exceptional legal creativity, leveraging advanced artificial intelligence tools in legal practice. They will act as a trusted advisor to management and department heads, helping transform litigation management into a competitive advantage.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
High-Volume Litigation & Procedural Strategy (approx. 40%)
In collaboration with / under the supervision of the Head of Litigation
- Lead the legal strategy for high-volume litigation related to consumer credit, including usury claims, transparency, standard contractual terms, and consumer protection regulations.
- Develop scalable litigation strategies, including legal arguments, response templates, and consistent defense criteria by claim type, court, and jurisdiction.
- Monitor case law from the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), the Spanish Supreme Court, and Provincial Courts, ensuring the company's litigation strategy remains up to date, including cost recovery strategies.
- Coordinate and supervise external law firms and legal representatives, ensuring quality standards, deadlines, SLA compliance, and cost control.
Strategic Support During the Pre-Litigation Phase (approx. 25%)
In collaboration with / under the supervision of the Head of Litigation
- Define the company's pre-litigation strategy by analyzing high volumes of out-of-court claims and assessing legal risk versus cost to determine whether to settle or litigate.
- Negotiate out-of-court settlements and develop data-driven settlement matrices based on success probability, expected cost, and litigation cost risk.
- Work cross-functionally with Collections, Compliance, Customer Support, and Product teams to identify root causes and reduce litigation at its source.
Artificial Intelligence & Legal Transformation (approx. 20%)
- Use generative AI and legal technology tools to perform large-scale document analysis, draft legal pleadings, review court decisions, and analyze litigation data.
- Identify, test, and implement new AI use cases across the litigation lifecycle while ensuring quality, confidentiality, and appropriate human oversight.
- Define and document legal processes, workflows, playbooks, and escalation criteria to support automation and scalability.
Management Communication & Reporting (approx. 15%)
- Serve as the primary point of contact for management and department heads, delivering executive reports in English on litigation KPIs, including litigation volume, success rates, and legal costs.
- Provide strategic recommendations based on litigation trends, legal developments, and business objectives.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Essential Requirements
- Exceptional legal creativity, with the ability to develop innovative litigation strategies and legal arguments.
- Professional English proficiency (minimum C1), both written and spoken, for reporting and stakeholder communication.
- Excellent executive communication skills, with the ability to present complex legal matters clearly, support recommendations with data, and maintain a business-oriented mindset.
- Advanced proficiency in artificial intelligence tools, including generative AI, prompt engineering, and AI-assisted document analysis applied to legal practice.

**Meet the Team**
The Regulatory Affairs team within Cisco's Legal department is comprised of lawyers, operational specialists, program managers, engineers, and other experts focused on topics including privacy, global trade, cybersecurity, telecom, environmental sustainability, and various regulatory practice areas. The team's charter is aligned with influencing, interpreting, and implementing evolving and existing regulations that impact Cisco's business and interacting with external partners on these important topics. We partner with colleagues in Legal and functional teams across the company to drive impact.
**Your Impact**
This team is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Principal Corporate Counsel to provide regulatory guidance across a broad spectrum of EMEA environmental, supply chain, and product focused regulations. You will work closely with a wide range of cross-functional teams, including Sustainability, Supply Chain, Customer Experience, Refresh, Legal, Government Affairs, Engineering, Workplace Resources and others. Your work will directly impact Cisco's ability to navigate increasingly complex legal landscapes in environmental sustainability and ensure unrestricted access to EMEA markets.
Your key areas of responsibility will include:
+ Monitoring and interpreting applicable EMEA environmental sustainability regulations, standards, and directives, such as ROHS, REACH, WEEE, PFAS, EPR, ESPR, CSRD, and the EU Batteries Regulation
+ Driving Cisco's environmental compliance strategy and developing internal processes, policies, and procedures in furtherance of that compliance strategy
+ Developing and providing training and updates to key stakeholders on regulatory requirements and developments
+ Collaborating with cross-functional partners to integrate environmental sustainability compliance implementation requirements into product design and development processes
+ Partnering with Cisco's Government Affairs team to help influence existing and evolving regulations
+ Participating and engaging with industry associations

**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ Qualified lawyer (LLB, JD, or equivalent) in any EU jurisdiction or the UK, with 7+ years' post-qualification experience in sustainability or related regulatory compliance fields.
+ In-depth knowledge of relevant environmental sustainability regulations.
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English; additional European languages are an advantage.
+ Proven track record to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop, deliver, and guide effective, efficient regulatory compliance strategies and programs

**Meet the Team**
The Regulatory Affairs team within Cisco's Legal department is comprised of lawyers, operational specialists, program managers, engineers, and other experts focused on topics including privacy, global trade, cybersecurity, telecom, environmental sustainability, and various regulatory practice areas. The team's charter is aligned with influencing, interpreting, and implementing evolving and existing regulations that impact Cisco's business and interacting with external partners on these important topics. We partner with colleagues in Legal and functional teams across the company to drive impact.
**Your Impact**
This team is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Principal Corporate Counsel to provide regulatory guidance across a broad spectrum of EMEA environmental, supply chain, and product focused regulations. You will work closely with a wide range of cross-functional teams, including Sustainability, Supply Chain, Customer Experience, Refresh, Legal, Government Affairs, Engineering, Workplace Resources and others. Your work will directly impact Cisco's ability to navigate increasingly complex legal landscapes in environmental sustainability and ensure unrestricted access to EMEA markets.
Your key areas of responsibility will include:
+ Monitoring and interpreting applicable EMEA environmental sustainability regulations, standards, and directives, such as ROHS, REACH, WEEE, PFAS, EPR, ESPR, CSRD, and the EU Batteries Regulation
+ Driving Cisco's environmental compliance strategy and developing internal processes, policies, and procedures in furtherance of that compliance strategy
+ Developing and providing training and updates to key stakeholders on regulatory requirements and developments
+ Collaborating with cross-functional partners to integrate environmental sustainability compliance implementation requirements into product design and development processes
+ Partnering with Cisco's Government Affairs team to help influence existing and evolving regulations
+ Participating and engaging with industry associations
+ Partnering with colleagues in Legal to respond to regulators and enforcement agencies, as needed
**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ Qualified lawyer (LLB, JD, or equivalent) in any EU jurisdiction or the UK, with 7+ years' post-qualification experience in sustainability or related regulatory compliance fields.
+ In-depth knowledge of relevant environmental sustainability regulations.
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English; additional European languages are an advantage.
+ Proven track record to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop, deliver, and guide effective, efficient regulatory compliance strategies and programs
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Strong experience working in or with multinational corporations, preferably in technology sector.
+ Experience working with regulatory bodies and industry groups.
+ Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing AI-powered tools or intelligence platforms to conduct risk assessments and enhance efficiency, accuracy, and the ability to predict and mitigate compliance risks.
+ Excellent skills in written/verbal communication, time management, quantitative/analytical and process documentation
