**The Position**
**Job description**
The Senior ERP Systems Engineer (ERP FinOps and License Manager) leads the strategic financial governance, cost optimization, and license/credit/subscription utilization for the organization's global ERP and SAP environments. This role bridges the gap between IT, Finance, and Procurement to ensure the company remains fully compliant with vendor licensing rules while actively eliminating overspending, cloud waste, and token consumption leakages. Acting as both an analyst and a strategic advisor, you will govern holistically software assets alongside utility-based consumption models (such as SAP Private and Public Cloud subscriptions, entitlements and AI Units). By turning complex system-utilization data into actionable cost-containment frameworks, you will maximize the long-term return on investment (ROI) for the entire enterprise application ecosystem.
Description of the area
The RDT ERP Systems Management is the foundational custodian of the organization's enterprise application landscape. We oversee the stability, security, compliance, and lifecycle evolution of critical global templates (including SAP S/4HANA Digital Core and legacy environments). Within this area, the FinOps and License Management becomes the intersection of platform license integrity and corporate financial efficiency. Moving away from manual legacy tracking, this role leverages system usage telemetry, automation tools, and predictive data modeling to govern entitlements, optimize utility-based cloud consumption (such as SAP RISE, SaaS portfolio (SAP and non-SAP), and BTP/Generative and Agentic AI pipelines), and maintain permanent audit readiness in a highly regulated corporate landscape.
**Job Responsibilities**
+ **Scope (Content Leadership) & Accountability/Problem Solving:**
+ **SAP License Management & Compliance:** Leads the commercial and administrative governance of the software asset lifecycle. Analyzes user entitlements based on role assignments, and platform transaction profiles to assign the most cost-effective SAP license types (such as e.g. Full Use Equivalents in RISE engine related metrics, or other types of entitlements).
+ **AI Token & Consumption Governance:** Establishes and owns the tracking framework for SAP AI Units across global sub-accounts. Defines usage guardrails, maps expenditures to active business pilots/use cases, and implements hard quota limits in the BTP Cockpit to prevent unoptimized models or runaway testing loops from generating contract overages.
+ **Audit Readiness & True-Ups:** Establishes permanent compliance guardrails and drives the execution of periodic system measurement huddles. Reconciles software entitlements against real-time consumption data to guarantee successful official vendor audits and minimize corporate financial risk.
+ **Cloud FinOps Execution:** Oversees the financial operations (FinOps) of cloud environments, tracking total cost of ownership (TCO), multi-million software asset budgets, and rolling forecasts. Monitors spending trends (e.g., tracking data storage profiles, or SaaS consumption patterns) to engineer unnecessary expenditures out of steady-state run budgets.
+ **Software Asset Management Tooling:** assesses the needs and coordinates the effective usage of corporate Software Asset Management toolbox.
+ **Stakeholder Management:** Demonstrates a strong grasp of stakeholder ecosystems and their needs, excelling in negotiations and partnerships to achieve mutual benefits. Provides clear direction to mid- to long-term goals and objectives.
+ **Cost Allocation, Showback & Chargeback:** Implements, refines, and presents clear internal chargeback models to ensure that corporate entities, local affiliates, or shared value streams are accurately billed for their precise ERP cloud, application, and consumption-based footprint.
+ **Vendor Negotiations:** Evaluates enterprise usage data and token burnout speed to provide procurement with predictive, data-backed models to negotiate favorable terms, manage true-ups, and proactively avoid over-licensing.
+ **Impact/Strategy:** Provides global-level support for innovative and technological initiatives.
+ **Global Optimization Initiatives:** Successfully drives medium to large-scale asset and subscription optimization initiatives across product lines, identifying contractual efficiencies and consumption strategies that directly impact the organization's bottom line.
+ **Knowledge Scaling:** Shares FinOps, licensing, Cloud and AI metering expertise at internal events, user groups, and internal Centers of Excellence (CoEs). Mentors to embed cost-consciousness directly into release management pipelines.
+ **Complexity / (Product Size):** Operates at the domain level, making a direct impact on the growth, engagement, and technical decisions of other members.
+ **Business / Technical ability:** Inspires innovation, is capable of driving innovative solutions in line with emerging technology trends, and engages in building new approaches to existing business and platform problems.
**Qualifications**
+ Expertise in SAP Licensing & Entitlement Architecture (including S/4HANA Private Cloud RISE metrics, FUE, Digital Access, BTP consumption credits, SAP AI Units billing logic, and legacy licensing structures).
+ Strong technical understanding of Cloud FinOps framework principles, utility-based / metered consumption engines, software asset management (SAM) tooling, and infrastructure cost-telemetry practices.
+ Capability to design and implement dashboard monitoring and visualizations to replace manual compliance workflows and isolate system utilization trends.
**Education / Experience**
+ Demonstrated experience in defining tasks, monitoring and following up within the organization
+ Proven track record of managing enterprise software contracts, platform cost tracking, credit pools, or license true-ups within complex enterprise software environments (e.g. SAP landscapes).
+ Experience participating in global knowledge-sharing events, tech universities, or Centers of Excellence (CoEs).
**Technical Skills**
+ Deep expertise in ERP software engineering and providing platform support through advanced tools and streamlined processes.
+ Understanding of overall application architecture and delivery roadmaps and how they fit into broader enterprise ecosystems, with the capability to translate it into software asset demands and decisions
+ Capability to drive technology trends in ERP, linked to the software lifecycle management.
**Additional Qualifications**
+ Strong communication and negotiation skills, capable of building mutually beneficial partnerships across stakeholder ecosystems and providing direction for mid-to long-term goals.
+ Exceptional leadership, specifically in leveraging team strengths and challenging others in a growth-enabling way.
