Art Outsourcing Manager

Barcelona based studio, full-remote options (for candidates based in Europe)

As the outsourcing manager, you have a great passion and understanding of game development, a true team player and someone who loves problem solving and collaboration. You will work closely with the director team, producers, and art leads to establish an efficient pipeline for our art assets production.

The ideal candidate should have a background in working on or managing stylized projects. This includes providing constructive feedback on outsourced assets, aiding in the selection and management of outsourcing studios, and ensuring smooth integration with the internal art team, including testing the assets and ensuring the pipelines are set up to integrate into the game. You will be responsible for delivering timely artistic feedback and overseeing quality control towards outsourcing development.

What You'll Do:

• Own Briefing & Scheduling: Work with internal teams to gather all necessary information and create clear, actionable briefs and schedules for external partners.
• End-to-End Vendor Management: Manage the full art outsourcing lifecycle, including sourcing ethical vendors, onboarding, and maintaining effective communication with studios and individual artists.
• Pipeline & Workflow Oversight: Create and maintain a cohesive outsource pipeline that supports efficient delivery, reviews, revisions, and final approvals. Ensure smooth integration of assets into the project pipeline across 3D models, textures, animations, and more.
• Proactive Issue Resolution: Identify potential issues or bottlenecks in the outsourcing process early, and implement effective, solution-focused strategies to ensure on-time delivery and high-quality output.
• Documentation & Reference Gathering: Generate and maintain detailed documentation, visual references, and production guidelines to support external vendors and align them with project expectations.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Art Directors, Producers, Leads, and key stakeholders across Operations, Legal, and Finance to align on project goals, partner onboarding, compliance, and budget tracking.
• Creative Relationship Management: Maintain strong, transparent communication with outsourcing partners, providing timely, constructive feedback to uphold creative vision and quality standards.
• Performance Evaluation: Conduct regular assessments of external partners to evaluate quality, reliability, and alignment with project requirements.

What You'll Bring:

• 3+ years of experience as an art content Outsource Manager.
• Comprehensive knowledge of latest development tools and software packages.
• Strong knowledge of asset workflows for various types of stylized game assets, including environment assets, character models, VFX, or concept packages.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, can effectively convey artistic vision, feedback, and technical requirements.
• A proactive and solution-focused attitude. No job too big or small.
• Experience using Jira to enter tickets, track work and report back to the team on progress.

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience creating AAA assets in a production environment for PC and Console.
• Mandarin (Chinese) language skill will be considered a plus.
• Experience working in Unreal Engine 5 considered a plus.
