Nowadays, the control of modern powertrains has reached challenging levels of complexity. To unlock further potentials in terms of fuel/energy consumption, emissions, product costs, and on-board diagnostics, new ideas and approaches are required. We are looking for employees for our new location in Martorell, Spain, which we are currently setting up for customer projects. If you want to continue working in the field of thermodynamics, combustion engines, and/or deal with complex powertrain control systems in interdisciplinary teams after completing your studies or doctorate, you can expect different activities in a versatile area of responsibilities.

Your Tasks

  • You define the calibration strategy, methodology, and tool chain.
  • You are responsible for test planning, execution, and evaluation.
  • You calibrate control units.
  • You carry out development and validation measurements on mechatronic systems.
  • You evaluate test results in terms of quality and maturity level.
  • You prepare results and present them in report form (internal/external).
  • You take care of the audit-proof backup of calibration records.
  • You continuously develop calibration methodology, guidelines, and automation.

Necessary Skills

  • Completed STEM studies with relevant project and development experience in the engineering domain.
  • Very good command of English.
  • Driving license B/BE.
  • Knowledge of processes and overall understanding of systems.
  • Domain-specific specialist knowledge.

Our company, a global leader in the chemical sector, is a multinational organization with a rich history of innovation and excellence. As they continue to expand their operations, we are seeking a talented and motivated Automation Engineer to join their team in Barcelona.

Job Purpose :

The Automation Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting their sites in their Operational Technology (OT) & Automation journey. This position involves providing technical expertise to specify, install, maintain, and safeguard Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and associated systems. Additionally, the engineer will collaborate with sites and regional teams to enhance existing automation capabilities, identify future opportunities, and create roadmaps for automation projects aligned with our business objectives.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Provide hands-on expertise and technical guidance to the site on control system repairs, design changes, and projects.
  2. Develop, update, and maintain the digital map (network architecture) of the Industrial Control System (ICS), including equipment locations, IP/MAC addresses, routes, etc.
  3. Implement effective backup and recovery measures of the (ICS) software.
  4. Update and maintain the site’s business continuity plan related to the Industrial control system.
  5. Support Site Responsible Engineer/s in maintaining (ICS) Spares Inventory.

As nominated Site Cyber Security Officer (SCSO):

  1. Ensure OT cybersecurity standards and policies are implemented and report compliance.
  2. Execute periodic Cybersecurity Risk Assessments/Vulnerability Assessments of the Systems.
  3. Communicate site-specific cybersecurity requirements to suppliers and contractors.
  4. Attend and lead ICS awareness training at the site.
  5. Supervise the Threat and Vulnerability identification process.

Education & Experience:

  1. Bachelor of Science in Electronics, Industrial Control, or similar field.
  2. Minimum 3/5 years of relevant work experience.
  3. Previous experience in factory digital transformation programs.
  4. Control System maintenance experience in a large, high-volume manufacturing facility.
  5. Strong knowledge of cybersecurity, network architecture, and data collection methodologies.
  6. Experience in programming/troubleshooting Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Honeywell, ABB, etc.
  7. Field instrument experience.
