Job Title: Senior Control Systems Engineer
Position Overview :
We are seeking a seasoned Control Systems Specialist to spearhead the instrumentation and control aspects of our industrial projects. This role demands an expert with extensive experience in the comprehensive management of field instrumentation, including flow meters, transmitters, and local instrumentation.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the preparation and review of key documentation, specification of complex instruments, and coordination with mechanical teams. Proficiency in projects within Spain is essential for this position.
Responsibilities- Preparation of Instrument and Signal Lists
- Management, review, and comments on P&IDs
- Specification, technical evaluation, purchasing, and review of technical documentation for all types of Instruments
- Practical experience with field instrumentation, including flow meters, transmitters, and local instrumentation
- Experience with Control Valves, On-Off Valves, Motorized Valves, PSVs
- Knowledge and experience with Analyzers
- Collaboration with mechanical teams for the specification, technical evaluation, and documentation review of packaged equipment from an I&C perspective
- Advanced use of the SPI tool (version 2018)
- Seniority Level : Senior
- Experience in projects within Spain (essential requirement)
- Proficiency with the SPI tool (version 2018)
- Required language : Minimum English B1
- Ability to work on-site

As an Advanced Control Systems Specialist , you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing advanced control systems to enhance the performance, efficiency, and reliability of Omya’s manufacturing processes. This role demands a deep understanding of control theory, strong programming skills, proficiency with analytics and simulation tools, solid business acumen, and a proven track record of successfully deploying advanced control solutions in industrial environments.
MAIN RESPONSABILITIES
- Design and develop advanced control algorithms, and other advanced techniques, to improve the performance and stability of industrial processes.
- Conduct thorough analysis and modelling of complex dynamic systems, identifying key variables and constraints to inform control system design.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate advanced control solutions into existing process control systems, ensuring seamless operation and compatibility with hardware and software platforms of Omya.
- Implement advanced control algorithms in real-time control systems, Industrial Control systems (i.E PLC,SCADA ), ensuring accurate and robust control of industrial processes.
- Configure and fine-tune control parameters through simulation and testing, optimizing system performance, energy efficiency, and product quality.
- Monitor and analyse system performance data, identifying opportunities for further optimization and refinement of control strategies.
- Work closely with automation engineers, process engineers, and project managers to integrate advanced control systems into new or existing industrial plants.
- Prepare comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, technical re-ports, and operating procedures, to support the implementation and maintenance of advanced control systems.
- Stay current with advancements in control theory, technology, and industry best practices, continuously seeking opportunities to enhance control system performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with R&D teams to explore and develop innovative control solutions for emerging challenges and opportunities in industrial automation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in advanced control system design and implementation.
- Proficiency in control theory and optimization techniques.
- Strong programming skills (MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C/C++).
- Experience with industrial automation systems (PLCs, SCADA, DCS, HMI).
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols.
- Knowledge of machine learning and data-driven control techniques.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and passionate about innovation.
- Willingness to travel.
