Job summary

The Data Center Critical Facilities Engineer IV is a skilled specialist that works on assignments requiring considerable judgement. Has a substantial understanding of the job while working on assignments that are moderately difficult requiring judgement in resolving issues or making recommendations. Focus is on moderately difficult tasks, using substantial understanding of standard operating procedure. Supports the overall team.

Responsibilities
  • Facility / Infrastructure Maintenance: Performs moderately difficult preventative and corrective maintenance checks on-site to facility components
  • Repairs, maintenance, installations and on-site inspections of facility systems; supports energy efficiency measures
  • Monitors the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and resolves moderately difficult alarm issues while following standard operating procedures
  • Vendor Support: Supports the work approval process for service providers on moderately difficult maintenance work, including briefing at the start of work, on-site monitoring, and final review; ensures vendor activities follow Equinix SOPs
  • In cooperation with vendors, supports modifications to technical files for plants and equipment to ensure files / builds are up-to-date
  • Site Administration & Incident Support: Maintains site logs for permits and SOPs; identifies Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and makes recommendations; responds to moderately difficult on-site incidents
  • Work Orders & Projects: Completes routine work requests and circuit installations; troubleshoots and maintains office equipment; supports auxiliary equipment to minimize downtime; makes minor changes to mechanical, electrical and specialized systems as directed
  • Collaboration: Works with others to resolve moderately difficult facility incidents; mentors team members on general maintenance activities; communicates inventory needs to maintain stock levels of critical parts and equipment
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a critical facility; data center experience preferred
  • Higher National Diploma / Certificate (BTEC) or equivalent
  • Curiosity and strong troubleshooting skills

    The Data Center Critical Facilities Engineer IV is a skilled specialist working on assignments requiring considerable judgment. They have a substantial understanding of the job and handle moderately difficult tasks, using their knowledge of standard operating procedures. They support the overall team.

    Responsibilities

    Facility / Infrastructure Maintenance

    • Performs moderately difficult preventative and corrective maintenance checks on-site to facility components.
    • Performs repairs, maintenance, installations, and on-site inspections to facility systems. Supports energy efficiency measures.
    • Monitors the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and resolves alarm issues that require judgment while following standard procedures.

    Vendor Support

    • Supports the work approval process for service providers on maintenance work, including briefing at the start, monitoring during the work, and final review, ensuring activities comply with standards.
    • Supports modifications to technical files for plants and equipment in cooperation with vendors, ensuring files are up-to-date.

    Site Administration & Incident Support

    • Maintains site logs for permits, such as Maintenance Operation Protocols (MOPs) and scripts.
    • Identifies Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and recommends solutions.
    • Responds to all moderately difficult incidents on-site, including failures and delays.

    Work Orders & Additional Projects

    • Completes routine work requests and circuit installations.
    • Troubleshoots and maintains office and auxiliary equipment to minimize downtime.
    • Makes minor modifications to mechanical, electrical, and specialized systems as directed.

    Collaboration

    • Collaborates with others to resolve facility incidents.
    • Mentors team members on maintenance activities.
    • Provides inventory needs to maintain optimal stock levels of critical parts and equipment.

    Qualifications

    • Proven experience working in a critical facility; data center experience preferred.
    • Higher National Diploma / Certificate (BTEC).
    • Strong troubleshooting skills and natural curiosity.
