Job Introduction: We are looking for a Paralegal to join our market-leading, lawyer-led claims handling service in our CSG team. We have one permanent contract available on a full-time / remote working basis.

Who you'll be working with? Our specialism is working with the retail and consumer sector; handling claims arising from the operation of motor fleets as well as the casualty claims arising from retail operations. We work with a range of corporate and insurer clients and are proud to act for household names and to work with major UK retailers. We are a team of over 60 working across two locations in Newport (South Wales) and Leeds. We are committed to delivering a high-quality claims handling service to our clients. Who you are

You do not need to have prior experience as a Paralegal or a legal qualification in order to apply; we are happy to hear from those with customer service / retail experience and / or school leavers or graduates who are team players and have a passion for learning. You will have:

  • IT skills - Be IT literate with a good working knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Prioritisation and Organisation Skills - the ability to structure your time well, prioritise work effectively, and recognise when to ask for help.
  • Interpersonal skills - communication skills to liaise with clients, intermediaries, and colleagues on the phone and in person.
  • Analytical skills - The ability to critically look at factual evidence, identify key legal arguments and apply the same.
  • Commercial sense - The ability to know the principle or law but also know when it is worth pursuing it.
  • Resilience - The ability to stand your ground in a telephone negotiation and to receive feedback.
  • Commitment and enthusiasm - with a professional attitude.
  • Aptitude to learn – The ability to retain knowledge and implement new skills showing initiative to use available resources to problem solve.

What you will do
  • Be responsible for a varied caseload of volume pre-litigated work.
  • Review claims assessing who's at fault and the level of compensation within authority limits.
  • Resolve claims through negotiation and litigation within client service standards.
  • Maintain contact with our clients and their customers while proactively managing their expectations.
  • Meet individual performance measures (financial and quality performance measures).

The senior paralegal, reporting to the senior corporate legal counsel in Luxembourg, will be a key member of the corporate legal team, supporting the Group’s governance, the Luxembourg and UK corporate housekeeping and corporate activities across the various holding companies of the Group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting in managing the day-to-day corporate governance and reporting requirements of various Group entities, including the holding companies in Luxembourg and in the UK;
  • Assisting with the preparation and review of various contractual arrangements (engagement letters, NDAs, contracts, corporate resolutions, intercompany agreements) across the Group holding entities;
  • Keeping accurate and updated the entity management tool and folders of all holding entities of the Group;
  • Supporting the manager in activities related to internal re-organizations and other ad-hoc internal projects (preparation of step plans, relevant documentation, internal approvals);
  • Supporting periodical preparation and reporting of legal functions objectives and help coordinate functional initiatives (regular litigation calls and reports, committees, annual accounts etc);
  • Ensuring compliance with Company’s governance and limits of authority (both management and Board) for related transactions and financings;
  • Other administrative work as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10 years experience in an administrative and/or paralegal role in an international environment;
  • Good knowledge of database and management tools;
  • Fluent in English (oral and written), French is considered as a plus;
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Attention to details and good organisation and multi-tasking skills;
  • A team player who is collaborative, agile, resourceful, flexible and willing to engage in a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities.

    Candidate Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or Legal Studies
    • Paralegal certificate or relevant professional certification is a plus
    • Proven experience in a legal environment, law firm, or corporate legal department
    • Proficiency in legal research methods, citation formats, and online research tools
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, and colleagues
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and legal software applications
    • Knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and litigation processes
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a legal team, demonstrating professionalism, discretion, and integrity

    Physical Requirements

    This job operates in a professional office environment. The employee will be largely sedentary and will be required to sit/stand for long periods while using a computer and telephone headset. The employee will be regularly required to operate a computer and other office equipment, including a phone, copier, and printer.     Estamos buscando un paralegal altamente organizado. El candidato ideal será responsable de apoyar eficazmente diversas funciones administrativas y manejar aspectos legales específicos relacionados con transacciones hipotecarias.

    Gestión administrativa/hipotecarias:

    • Revisar documentos legales relacionados con hipotecas y transacciones inmobiliarias.
    • Asistir en la preparación de contratos y documentos legales.
    • Ejecutar las tareas administrativas diarias.
    • Mantener los archivos organizados y las bases de datos actualizadas.
    • Preparar y editar documentos, informes y presentaciones cuando sea necesario.
    • Gestión de llamadas de impulso: realizar llamadas relacionadas con el seguimiento de expedientes en el Juzgado.
    • Soporte administrativo: gestionar tareas rutinarias como notificaciones y actualizaciones de expedientes.
    • Viajes: realizar desplazamientos frecuentes a diferentes Juzgados, con capacidad para viajar semanas alternas.

    Soporte financiero:

    • Mantener un control exhaustivo de los gastos del cliente, asegurando el cumplimiento de límites y procedimientos.
    • Supervisar la correcta codificación y aprobación de facturas.
    • Gestionar el proceso de cobro y pago, actuando como interlocutor con el cliente.
    • Realizar seguimientos proactivos y contactar al cliente en caso de retrasos en pagos o cobros.

    Requisitos:

    • Licenciatura en Derecho o Grado Medio.
    • Inglés avanzado (hablado y escrito).
    • Manejo de Excel a nivel usuario.

    • Gestionar de principio a fin solicitudes de patente europea (EPC) y procedimientos PCT.
    • Definir estrategias de protección y responder a acciones oficiales ante la EPO y la OMPI.
    • Acompañar a nuestros clientes en todo el ciclo de vida de la invención (¡del garabato al grant!).
    • Formar a perfiles júnior y compartir buenas prácticas.

    • Experiencia sólida en tramitación EPC / PCT.
