Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for an experienced technical manager to lead a solutions architecture team that helps some of the highest growth startups succeed using AWS technologies.
Your team members will leverage their deep knowledge of AWS technologies to impact how solutions are proposed, architected and implemented for potential and existing customers.
In this role, you will hire and develop some of the industry's best cloud‑based solutions architects, coach them on cloud adoption best practices, empower them to further develop their technical areas of depth as well as their communication, presentation and strategy skills. You will partner with other teams within AWS such as account management, business development, service teams, marketing, and professional services, prioritizing initiatives and aligning goals to maximize long‑term value.
You and your team will shape and deliver on a strategy to build mind share and broad use of AWS services within high‑growth startup customers. You will interact directly with customers to better understand their needs and align the right resources and tools to maximize their success. You will measure and deliver results while staying in touch with the pace of innovation of the AWS technology and its use cases.
Practical knowledge of the AWS platform is desired but not required, provided you have sound leadership skills and a strong technical foundation in secure, scalable, and reliable IT architectures.
You must be technically capable and credible in your own right, so that you can shape the customer and solutions‑focused initiatives of your team.
You will practice your creativity in linking technology to tangible solutions and educating customers about the art of the possible. Central to this will be your leadership in driving Solutions Architects to create cutting‑edge reference architectures for a variety of use cases.
The ideal candidate has experience building and leading teams of senior engineers or solutions architects at large enterprises or startups. Customer‑facing experience is required, ideally having worked as a Solutions Architect, Consultant, Pre‑sales engineer or other similar role.

Startup Solutions Architects work hand in hand with AWS customers to help them make the most of the Cloud. They are at the crossroads of business and technology and engage with startups of different stages. Supporting the overall technical relationship between customers and AWS, they work to understand the customer's business needs and give prescriptive guidance on how to create business value with technology. Solutions Architects also have broader impact at scale, taking a supporting role in creating and presenting technical content and best practices.
In this role you will get to practice your creativity, linking technology to tangible solutions and educating AWS customers about the art of the possible. You will have the opportunity to refine cloud-native reference architectures for a variety of use cases. You will have the support to grow your expertise in industry and technology areas of depth. You will be part of a team that is responsible for driving adoption of AWS technologies while bringing differentiated value to customers. This is a team dedicated to Startups, an important and growing subset of customers for AWS. Startups follow unique technology adoption patterns and growth trajectories that distinguish them from traditional businesses, so you will be employing engagement strategies and programs tailored to their business needs and technical preferences.
Key job responsibilities- As a Solutions Architect, you will work directly with customers to accelerate their challenging projects and recommend best-practice architectures in line with their long-term business outcomes.
- You operate as a trusted advisor for startups. The best interests of the customer will shape the guidance you provide. You work backwards from their priorities and find inventive ways to add value with solutions utilizing AWS and its Partners’ technology.
- You capture and share the voice of the customer to influence the roadmap of new features and services for AWS. You use your customer understanding to participate in the creation or updates of technical content and reference architectures (e.g. white papers, code samples, blog posts).
- Evangelize and educate about AWS technology (e.g. workshops, user groups, meetups, public speaking, online videos or conferences).
- Experience with Cloud platforms (preferably AWS), database systems (SQL and NoSQL), AI tools for development productivity, contributing to open-source projects, and/or version control systems.
- Sound knowledge of machine learning fundamentals, with working knowledge of frameworks such as Pytorch, TensorFlow, JAX or MXNet.
- Knowledge of MLOps tools and workflows for model development, validation, and deployment.
- High level of communicating effectively across internal and external organizations, with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Fluent written and verbal communications skills in English and Spanish with demonstrated ability to communicate technical choices to business and technology stakeholders.
- Professional experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS and/or AWS certification (e.g. AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional).
- Hands-on experience benchmarking and optimizing performance of models on accelerated computing (GPUs, Trainium/Inferentia, TPU and/or AI ASICs) clusters with high-speed networking.
- Understanding of technical details and techniques used in tuning generative AI foundation models using techniques like RAG, PEFT, RLHF, DPO.
- Experience scaling model training and inference using technologies like Slurm, ParallelCluster, Amazon SageMaker.
- Experience in developing and deploying large scale machine learning or deep learning models and/or systems into production, including batch and real-time data processing.
