Descripción Del Trabajo
Dating back to 1860, Casa Almirall is one of the oldest drinking establishments in Barcelona , and it’s got a thriving customer base today. Though the bar has been reformed a few times over the years, inside it still looks as though it might have when it first opened, with a wonderful marble bar and finely-crafted, curved woodwork. There’s even a cast iron statue of a Greek muse from the 1888 World Fair. In other words, if you’ve fallen in love with the city’s art nouveau aesthetic this is a great place to drink it in.
The bar often hosts events like concerts and silent film nights, though if there’s nothing special going on here it’s a great spot for a quiet conversation, or for people watching through the window. Carrer Joaquin Costa is one of the hippest spots in the city, and there’s always plenty going on outside.
Finally if you’ve come to Barcelona looking for a glass of the green fairy , you’ll be pleased to know Casa Almirall is one of the few places in the city that still serves absinthe, as well as – another traditional tipple – vermouth .

Descripción Del Trabajo
An integral part of Barcelona’s Gaudi trail , Casa Vicens was built between 1883 and 1888 and was one of the architect’s first major works. The man responsible for commissioning this luxury four floor house in Gracia was stock-broker Manuel Vicens i Montaner, a friend of the architect’s who had recently inherited the property after his mother died.
Gaudi wasted no time in setting out his artistic stall with this dare-we-say-it ‘gaudy’ little number, full of ostentatious brickwork, Moorish trills and the architect’s trademark over-the-top chimneys. Some argue it’s the first true example of the Catalan art nouveau architectural style .
In 1899 Casa Vicens changed hands, and the family who bought it lived in the house for three generations, meaning that it has never been open to the public… until now that is. After going up for sale in 2007, this cultural treasure has been extensively restored and finally opened its doors to the public in 2017.
Completely unique, even amongst Gaudi’s other work, this dazzling UNESCO-listed masterpiece is destined to be as popular as the architect’s surreal ‘House of Bones ‘ and magnificent La Pedrera , so it might be worth putting on your itinerary sooner rather than later, before the crowds descend en masse.
Opening HoursCasa Vicens is open every day, including Sundays, from 10 am to 8 pm (last entry at 7 pm). The house is closed on 25th December, 1st and 6th January for holidays.

Descripción Del Trabajo
Built as a vast private residence for wealthy developer Pere Mila and his even-more-minted missus, Rosario Segimon, Casa Mila is Gaudi’s second most famous structure afterLa Sagrada Familia church .
The house’s cliff-like walls immediately earned it the nickname La Pedrera, or ‘The Quarry’, amongst locals; and, although some may have scoffed in the past, this rocky undulating facade has become one of the most recognisable anywhere in the world. Indeed it’s one of the seven UNESCO listed works by Gaudi in Barcelona .
It’s well worth the ticket admission to take a look inside the Casa Mila with its two beautiful internal courtyards, the reconstructed ‘La Pedrera apartment’ and – best of all – access to the rooftop with its surreal chimneys (typicalGaudi!) and views over Barcelona.
Opening HoursThe house is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm, and Saturdays and Sundays (plus holidays) from 10am to 2pm.
